She is among the most famous athletes in American history. She is among only six female athletes who have taken home trophies the five World Cup competitions in alpine. In total, she's won more than the 82 World Cup titles. The best skier on the planet and the top American racer in ski racing have announced their retirements following this year's World Championship in Sweden. The onset of a series of health issues caused this multiple World Cup Overall Champion to make the decision to retire. Social media was her way to declare her decision to retire.
